Cordial World (CW) is an emerging transformative initiative designed to deeply address the systemic challenges facing humanity, collectively referred to as the metacrisis. The metacrisis represents the underlying, interconnected flaws in societal, ecological, and economic systems that give rise to multiple, simultaneous crises. Unlike the polycrisis, which describes a chaotic convergence of distinct but interacting crises (such as climate change, political instability, and economic inequality), the metacrisis points to the deeper, structural causes of why these crises are occurring together. It reveals the need for a fundamental transformation in understanding how societies operate systemically, and pursue transformational pathways that manifest a scope of change imperatives that go beyond merely managing individual crises.
CW recognises that traditional approaches are no longer sufficient to address the root causes of these interconnected challenges. To address the metacrisis, we must rethink and reshape the structures, systems, and paradigms that underpin society. This requires an urgent, coordinated effort to empower civil society to lead the way in driving systemic change. CW is designed to catalyse such a transformation, fostering a complex contagion of sustainable and persistent social change by aligning changemakers - individuals, communities, networks, and organisations.
By facilitating the co-creation of transformative conditions and fostering civic intelligence, CW’s mission and purpose will centre on developing effective means for empowering people and communities to thrive in the face of these existential challenges.
